2、 Here’s where it makes the most sense. You need it so you don’t forget. Forget that there are palace in the world that aren’t made out of stone That there’s a---there’s a---there’s something inside that’s yours, that they can’t touch.
3、 That’s the beauty of music. They can’t take that away from you.
4、Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free.
5、Prison life consists of routine, and then more routine.
6、These walls are kind of funny like that. First you hate them, then you get used to them. Enough time passed, get so you depend on them. That's institution alized.
7、I guess it comes down to a simple choice: get busy living or get busy dying.
8、I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock hem up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.
9、There’s not a day goes by I don’t feel regret. Not because I’m in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then. Then a young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can’t. That kid’s long gone and this old man is all that’s left. I got to live with that. Rehabilitated? It’s just a bull**** word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don’t give a ****.
10、Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.
11、It takes a strong man to save himself, and a great man to save another.
12、Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
13、I find I'm so excited. I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.
Red: Let me tell you something my friend: Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.
Red narrating: These walls are kind of funny like that. First you hateem, then you get used toem. Enough time passes, gets so you depend on them.
Red narrating: I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were s inging about. Truth is, I dont want to know. Some things are better left uns
aid.Id like to think they were singing about somethings so beautiful,it cant expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it.I tell you, th ose voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a great place dares to dr eam. It was as if some beautiful bird had flapped into our drab little cage an d made these walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man is Shawshank felt free.
(On playing opera records in the prison)
Andy Dufresne: Heres where it makes the most sense. You need it so you dont foget. Foget that there are palce in the world that arent made out of stone That theres a---theres a---theres something inside thats yours, that they cant touch.
Andy Dufresne: Thats the beauty of music. They cant take that away from yo u.
Red reading a note left by Andy: Remember, Red, hope is good thing, mabye the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
Red narrating: We sat and drank with the sun on our shoulders and felt like freemen. h*ll, we could have been tarring the roof of one of our own houses. We were the lords of all creation. As for Andy-hespent that break hunkered in the shade, a strangelittle smile on his face.watching us drink his beer.
Red narrating: You could argue hed done it to curry favor with the guards. Or, mabye make a few friends among us cons. Me, I think he did it just to feel normanl again, if only for a short while.
Red narrating: I have to remind myself that some birds dont mean to be caged . Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up. DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that theyre gone. I guess I just miss my friend.
Red narraing: I hope I can make it across the border, I hope the Pacific is as blue as I dreamed it is; I hope to see my friend again, and shake his hand; I hope.
Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free.
It takes a strong man to save himself, and a great man to save another.
Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies!
Get busy living, Or get busy dying.
