对于每一个英语句子的翻译, 并不只是使用一种翻译方法, 而是多种翻译方法的综合运用, 这在英语长句的翻译中表现得尤为突出。长句在科技性的文体中的出现极为频繁, 因此也就成为研究生入学考试的重点, 通过对近年来试题的分析我们可以看出, 所考查的绝大多数划线的部分都是长句。在翻译长句时, 首先,不要因为句子太长而产生畏惧心理,因为,无论是多么复杂的句子,它都是由一些基本的成分组成的。其次要弄清英语原文的句法结构, 找出整个句子的中心内容及其各层意思, 然后分析几层意思之间的相互逻辑关系, 再按照汉语的特点和表达方式, 正确地译出原文的意思, 不必拘泥于原文的形式。 英语长句的分析

一般来说, 造成长句的原因有三方面:

(1) 修饰语过多;

(2) 并列成分多;

(3) 语言结构层次多。

在分析长句时可以采用下面的方法:

(1) 找出全句的主语、谓语和宾语, 从整体上把握句子的结构。

(2) 找出句中所有的谓语结构、非谓语动词、介词短语和从句的引导词。

(3) 分析从句和短语的功能, 例如, 是否为主语从句, 宾语从句, 表语从句等,若是状语, 它是表示时间、原因、结果、还是表示条件等等)。

(4) 分析词、短语和从句之间的相互关系, 例如, 定语从句所修饰的先行词是哪一个等。

(5) 注意插入语等其他成分。

(6) 注意分析句子中是否有固定词组或固定搭配

英语习惯于用长的句子表达比较复杂的概念, 而汉语则不同,常常使用若干短句, 作层次分明的叙述。因此, 在进行英译汉时, 要特别注意英语和汉语之间的差异, 将英语的长句分解, 翻译成汉语的短句。在英语长句的翻译过程中, 我们一般采取下列的方法。

(1) 顺序法。当英语长句的内容的叙述层次与汉语基本一致时, 可以按照英语原文的顺序翻译成汉语。

(2) 逆序法。英语有些长句的表达次序与汉语表达习惯不同, 甚至完全相反, 这时必须从原文后面开始翻译。

(3)分句法。有时英语长句中主语或主句与修饰词的关系并不十分密切, 翻译时可以按照汉语多用短句的习惯, 把长句的从句或短语化成句子, 分开来叙述,为了使语意连贯, 有时需要适当增加词语。

(4) 综合法。上面我们讲述了英语长句的逆序法、顺序法和分句法, 事实上,在翻译一个英语长句时, 并不只是单纯地使用一种翻译方法, 而是要求我们把各种方法综合使用, 这在我们上面所举的例子中也有所体现。尤其是在一些情况下, 一些英语长句单纯采用上述任何一种方法都不方便, 这就需要我们的仔细分析, 或按照时间的先后,或按照逻辑顺序, 顺逆结合, 主次分明地对全句进行综合处理,以便把英语原文翻译成通顺忠实的汉语句子。

篇三:英语长句子的翻译

一、英语长句的分析

一般来说, 造成长句的原因有三方面: (1) 修饰语过多;(2) 并列成分多; (3) 语言结构层次多。在分析长句时可以采用下面的方法:

(1) 找出全句的'主语、谓语和宾语, 从整体上把握句子的结构。

(2) 找出句中所有的谓语结构、非谓语动词、介词短语和从句的引导词。

(3) 分析从句和短语的功能, 例如, 是否为主语从句, 宾语从句, 表语从句等,若是状语, 它是表示时间、原因、结果、还是表示条件等等)。

(4) 分析词、短语和从句之间的相互关系, 例如, 定语从句所修饰的先行词是哪一个等。

(5) 注意插入语等其他成分。

(6) 注意分析句子中是否有固定词组或固定搭配。

下面我们结合一些实例来进行分析:

例1. Behaviorists suggest that the child who is raised in an environment where there are many stimuli which develop his or her capacity for appropriate responses will experience greater intellectual development. 分析: (1) 该句的主语为behaviorists, 谓语为suggest, 宾语为一个从句, 因此整个句子为Behaviorist suggest that-clause 结构。

(2) 该句共有五个谓语结构, 它们的谓语动词分别为suggest, is raised, are, develop, experience等, 这五个谓语结构之间的关系为: Behaviorist suggest that-clause 结构为主句; who is raised in an environment为定语从句, 所修饰的先行词为child; where there are many stimuli为定语从句, 所修饰的先行词为environment; which develop his or her capacity for appropriate responses为定语从句, 所修饰的先行词为stimuli; 在suggest的宾语从句中, 主语为child, 谓语为experience, 宾语为greater intellectual development. 在作了如上的分析之后, 我们就会对该句具有了一个较为透彻的理解, 然后根据我们上面所讲述的各种翻译方法, 就可以把该句翻译成汉语为:

行为主义者认为, 如果儿童的成长环境里有许多刺激因素, 这些因素又有利于其适当反应能力的发展, 那么, 儿童的智力就会发展到较高的水平。

例2. For a family of four, for example, it is more convenient as well as cheaper to sit comfortably at home, with almost unlimited entertainment available, than to go out in search of amusement elsewhere. (85年考题)

分析: (1) 该句的骨干结构为it is more … to do sth than to do sth else. 是一个比较结构, 而且是在两个不定式之间进行比较。

(2) 该句中共有三个谓语结构, 它们之间的关系为: it is more convenient as well as cheaper to … 为主体结构, 但it是形式主语, 真正的主语为第二个谓语结构: to sit comfortably at home, 并与第三个谓语结构to go out in search of amusement elsewhere作比较。

(3) 句首的for a family of four作状语, 表示条件。另外, 还有两个介词短语作插入语: for example, with almost unlimited entertainment available,其中第二个介词短语作伴随状语, 修饰to sit comfortably at home.

综合上述翻译方法,这个句子我们可以翻译为:

譬如, 对于一个四口之家来说, 舒舒服服地在家中看电视, 就能看到几乎数不清的娱乐节目, 这比到外面别的地方去消遣又便宜又方便。

二、长句的翻译

英语习惯于用长的句子表达比较复杂的概念, 而汉语则不同,常常使用若干短句, 作层次分明的叙述。因此, 在进行英译汉时, 要特别注意英语和汉语之间的差异, 将英语的长句分解, 翻译成汉语的短句。在英语长句的翻译过程中, 我们一般采取下列的方法。

(1) 顺序法。当英语长句的内容的叙述层次与汉语基本一致时, 可以按照英语原文的顺序翻译成汉语。例如:

例1. Even when we turn off the beside lamp and are fast asleep, electricity is working for us, driving our refrigerators, heating our water, or keeping our rooms air-conditioned. (84年考题)

分析: 该句子由一个主句, 三个作伴随状语的现在分词以及位于句首的时间状语从句组成, 共有五层意思: A. 既使在我们关掉了床头灯深深地进入梦乡时; B.电仍在为我们工作;

C. 帮我们开动电冰箱; D. 加热水; E. 或是室内空调机继续运转。上述五层意思的逻辑关系以及表达的顺序与汉语完全一致, 因此, 我们可以通过顺序法, 把该句翻译成:

即使在我们关掉了床头灯深深地进入梦乡时, 电仍在为我们工作: 帮我们开动电冰箱, 把水加热, 或使室内空调机继续运转。

分析: 该句的骨干结构为“It is realized that…”, it为形式主语, that引导着主语从句以及并列的it is even possible to …结构, 其中, 不定式作主语, the time …是“expectation of life”的同位语, 进一步解释其含义, 而time后面的句子是它的定语从句。五个谓语结构, 表达了四个层次的意义: A. 可是现在人们意识到; B. 其中有些矿物质的蕴藏量是有限的; C. 人们甚至还可以比较合理的估计出这些矿物质“可望存在多少年”; D. 将这些已知矿源和储量将消耗殆尽的时间。根据同位语从句的翻译方法, 把第四层意义的表达作适当的调整, 整个句子就翻译为:

现在分词和过去分词两种。

作为谓语,现在分词和be 一起构成进行时;过去分词和be一起构成被动语态,和have一起构成完成时。

例如:

I am reading a novel by Maupassant. 我正在看一本莫泊桑写的小说。(现在分词和be 一起表示主语正在进行的动作。)

Mr. Robinson has drunk five glasses of wine already. 鲁宾逊先生已经喝了五杯酒了。(过去分词和have 一起表示主语已经完成的动作。)

作为非谓语形式,分词可用作形容词和副词,在句子中充当定语、表语、补语和状语。但它仍保持动词的一般特征,可以有自己的宾语和状语。分词和自己的宾语、状语构成分词短语。 现在分词有一般式和完成式。它的一般式表示和谓语动词所表示的动作同时发生的行为或存在的状态;它的完成式(having + 过去分词)表示在谓语动词所表示的动作之前发生的动作或存在的状态。

现在分词有主动语态和被动语态(being + 过去分词)。

过去分词只有一般式,表示在谓语动词所表示的动作之前发生的动作。过去分词(及物动词)本身可以表示被动的含义,因而没有别的被动形式。

例如:

Having failed three times, he didn’t want to try again. (=As he had failed three times, he didn’t want to try again.) 他失败了三次,不想再干了。(having failed 表示发生在前的动作)

(一)现在分词和过去分词的区别

(1)在语态上现在分词表示主动的意思,表示它所修饰的人或物的行为;及物动词的过去分词表示被动的意思,表示它所修饰的人或物是动作的承受者。换言之,现在分词是它修饰

的成分所作出的动作,过去分词是它修饰的成分所承受的动作。

(2)在时间上,现在分词往往表示动作正在进行,过去分词表示动作已完成。

(3)做表语时的不同。现在分词做表语表示主语所具有的特征,意思是“令人如何”。过去分词多表示主语所处的状态,意思是“感到如何”。

例如:

His lecture is disappointing。I’m disappointed。他的演讲令人失望。我感到失望。

We are surprised to hear the news。The news is surprising。我们听到那消息吃了一惊。那消息令人吃惊。

The situation is encouraging。 We’re encouraged。形式使人鼓舞。我们感到鼓舞。

常用的还有:amusing/amused,astonishing/astonished,disappointing/disappointed,exciting/excited,frightening/frightened,interesting interested,moving/moved, relaxing/relaxed,satisfying/satisfied,shocking/shocked,surprising/surprised,terrifying/terrified,tiring/tired,worrying/worried等等。

(4)做状语的区别,分词短语在句中可做时间、原因、方式、伴随状语。现在分词的动作和谓语动作同时或几乎同时发生、意思是主动的。而过去分词的动作在谓语动作之前发生、意思是被动的。

例如:

Seeing nobody at home,she decided to leave them a note。看到没人在家,她决定给他们留个条。(主动意义,几乎同时)

The secretary worked late into the night,preparing a speech for the president。秘书工作到晚上很晚,给总统准备一篇演说。(主动意义,同时)

Tired of the noise,he closed the window。对噪音感到厌烦,所以他把窗户关上。(被动意义,

(二)用法

1.作定语。作定语的分词通常放在被修饰的名词之前。如果被修饰的词是something,anything,everything,nothing等,则分词放在这些词之后。分词短语通常放在被修饰的名词之后。

例如:

This is an interesting book。(=This is a book。It is interesting。)这是一本有趣的书。

There is something interesting in the news。(=There is something in the news。 It is interesting。)消息中有些有趣的事。

The man sitting by the window is our math teacher。(=The man who is sitting by the window is our math teacher。)靠窗户坐着的那个人是我们的数学老师

The machine run by the old worker is made in Shanghai。(=The machine that is run by the old worker is made in Shanghai。)那位老工人开的机器是上海造的。

Most of students singing were girls。(=Most of the students who were singing?)唱歌的学生多数是女生。

Many of the villagers questioned refused to answer。(=Many of the villagers who were questioned?)被问的许多村里人都拒绝。

注意:(1)分词作定语与动名词作定语的区别:

分词和它所修饰的名词有逻辑上的主、谓关系。动名词则没有这种关系,而表示它所修饰的词的用途或有关动作。

The girls swimming in the sea were in danger。 在海里游泳的姑娘们有危险。

如果两个动作在时间上有先后,一般不能用现在分词作定语,而往往用主从复合句结构。 例如:

The man who has gone to Shanghai will be back again。到上海去的那个人会回来的。

The teacher wants to talk to the students who smashed the windows。老师要找打破了窗子的那个学生谈话。

(3)be的现在分词being不能用作定语(可用作状语或被动语态中的助动词)。表示这种概念时,也用主从复合句结构。

2、作状语。分词和分词短语作状语时,可以表示时间、原因、行为方式等意义。表示时间和原因的分词短语相当于对应的状语从句。

5、作句子独立成分(分词有自己的逻辑主语时,称为独立主格结构。)

例如:

分词(短语)作状语时,其逻辑主语必须与句子的主语一致。如果不一致,必须用独立主格结构来表示,也就是在分词前面加上它的逻辑主语。

My wife had a long talk with Sally, explaining why she didn’t want the children to play together我妻子与莎莉谈了很长时间,解释她为什么不想让孩子们在一起玩。(现在分词explaining是句子主语my wife做的动作,它们之间是主动关系)

We explored the caves,Peter acting as guide。我们到那山洞探险,彼得做向导。 (独立主格) The train having gone,we had to wait another day。分词短语做状语时,前面可以加上连词或介词,但是分词短语和句子之间不能用并列连词(如but,and),因为并列连词接的是两个并列成分,而分词短语只是全句的一个状语部分。分词和主句之间可用逗号。

例如:

误:Having been told many times,but he still couldn’t understand it。

正:He was told many times, but he still couldn’t understand it。

注意:(1)分词作状语时,逻辑主语即句子的主语;否则要用从句或独立主格结构来表示。 例如:

Looking out of the window,I saw lots of people there。(=When I looked out of the window,I saw lots of people there。)

我往窗外一看,看见那儿有许多人。 (looking out of the window的逻辑主语,就是句子的主语I。)

(2)在see,hear,watch,notice等动词后,用动词不定式作宾语补语,通常表示(强调)动作从开始到结束的全过程。如果用现在分词作宾语补语,则通常表示动作正在进行。 例如:

We sat two hours and watched the teacher make the experiment。我们坐了两个小时,看老师做实验。(两小时一直在看老师做实验)

We passed by the classroom and saw the teacher making the experiment。我们走过教室,看见老师在做实验。(只是在走过教宰的一刹那间,看见老师正存做实验)

I saw him enter the room, unlock a drawer, take out a document, photograph it and put it back。我看见他走进房间,打开抽屉,拿出一份文件,拍了照又放回去(表示一个接一个的一系列动作的全过程时,用动词不定式。

一、概述

按要求改写句子主要考查学生对句子结构的掌握以及用不同句型表达同一意思的能力。考查所涉及到的句子类型有一般疑问句、否定句、反意疑问句、选择疑问句、对划线部分提问、感叹句、保持原句意思、合并成一句、简单句和复合句之间的互换以及改为被动语态等。

二、解题时需注意的几个要点

1、时态:不同的时态相对应的助动词

一般现在时:谓语动词用原形(主语为第三人称单数时,动词加s或es,变否定句、疑问句时助动词为do或does)

一般过去时:谓语动词用过去式,变否定句、疑问句时助动词为did.

现在完成时:助动词have/has+动词的过去分词

3、改反意疑问句时注意hardly, never, seldom, few, little, no等词表达的是否定意义,变反意疑问句时用肯定形式。

4、在合并句子时,有些连词如not only…but also…, neither…nor…, either…or…是就近原则,连接两个主语时动词形式取决于与动词邻近的主语。而both…and…连接两个主语时,主语是复数。

5、简单句和复合句之间的互换常见的有:带有疑问词的宾语从句改为特殊疑问词+to+动词原形的不定式;结果状语从句so…that…改为enough to或too…to…的简单句。

6、保持原句意思改写句子时注意时态不变。

一简述

1. 当过去分词在句末时,不管有无逗号,都是就近修饰名词;

2.现在分词在句末时,无逗号是就近修饰的名词的定语;

3.当现在分词在句尾且前有逗号时,修饰邻近句子的'主语,做主语的伴随状语或做句子的伴随结果.因此不能用句尾现在分词修饰前面句尾的名词. 所以OG127说C选项:"the phrasehaving been assigned...is uncertain in reference,making the sentence unclear."-->就是说这个现在分词本来是应该修饰前面的employee的,却变成了修饰主语governments了. (另外在GMAT里,having been done的用法错误,应直接用done)

避免上述错误的方法:所修饰的名词在句尾用定语从句修饰--OG127正确选项B (而不用加逗号的现在分词修饰.其实分词是定语从句的省略形式,在句中无逗号分词(注意是无逗号的,有逗号的在句中有歧义)就比定语从句简洁)还有 OG120也是同样道理:修饰句尾名词,正确选项A用定语从句.E选项的句尾现在分词错误.

4.当现在/过去分词在句中且前没有逗号,修饰前面紧邻名词;

5.当现在/过去分词在句中且前后都有逗号,有歧义:1)修饰前面紧邻的名词,2)向后修饰后面句子的主语.

这种结构在GMAT肯定错,如果修饰某句主语,则避免将该分词置于以名词结尾的句后.避免方式:1)用定语从句/介词短语明确修饰对象.2)可将分词提到句首,所修饰主语及所在句子紧跟其后-->形成句首分词修饰句子主语.见OG179

6.在前面有多个名词如名词1+介词+名词2结构,而要用分词修饰名词1时,为避免歧义要重复名词1即用同位语结构:名词1+介词+名词2,名词1+分词.见OG208

2.SVO, doing有逗号,33B,39C(Og says:protecting很好的

解释了主语的行为),44B,120E(Og says:错误选项有可能混淆的指代主语而不是逻辑上正确的宾语),163D(Og says:sleeping正确的修饰了主语),256B --------以上证明了在Og中svo,doing的doing多指代主语

3.svo,doing有逗号,78BD(doing指代了前面整个句子的行为),119B(同前),154A(*),259A(同前)------------以上证明了Og中svo,doing的doing多指代前面的整个句子

四.例子

产生participle phrases原点是为了to reduce wordiness by replacing longer adverbial or relative clauses,另外要强调的重要讯息不会写成participle phrases,因为分词修饰语属于次等地位(The

modifier is subordinate to the main clause)。也就是说A….and B…(A与B一样重要),如果A…V..,B...Ving (就重要性而言A>B)

简单一句:分词构句是主要句子的意义延伸。

目前我看到有几种句意:

1. 因果(★★★★★)

2. 补述:解释某事(★★★)、描述状态并列或伴随(★★)、纯举例

phrases如此具困扰性是因为可以改写的来源多

1.由adj. clauses (如who, which开头)可改写成分词词组。考题中可分形容词子句限制性、非限制性改分词的考法。

2. 副词子句(有连接词开头的)也可改分词词组,所以有因果关系或时间关系,单纯就时间关系看,可以有先后或同时,会有动作是伴随或是并列关系。

3.当三个以上的动词用and相连时,后面的部分也改写成分词(V, Ving... and Ving...)。

我看过的说法中,觉得Manhatan GMAT备考网站,里面指导员所讲的分词概念不错,但是他的目的在卖书,所以讲的真的不多。

1.当分词构句放句首,修饰后面句子的主词。前几天看到有人发帖的整理,讲到分词在句首,表示此动作先于主要句子的动作,讲的真好。

2.当分词构句不放在句首时:

there's NO COMMA before a participle, then the participle creates an adjective phrase that modifies the noun immediately

there's a COMMA before a participle, then the participle creates an adverb phrase that modifies the action of the preceding

PS:逗号的产生可能是插入语,遇到插入语可以跳过不看,不代表分词修饰这个插入语。

判断上抓前句的动词与主词,如果用中文想就是「此主体这个动作的行为导致或表示.....」(to modify the action of)。而且不可以只有思考主词或动词。 如果遇到前句有数个动词,以找最近的动词为主,譬如V1 to V2,分词构句修饰V2

participle (V-ing) after the comma can not modify the subject of the preceding clause's

這個考「什么情况下不可以改成分词构句?」除了需要有对等连接词的句子,不可改分词构句,因为句意重要性会被改变外,

打逗号的Ving分词,无法修饰逗号之前的名词,所以非限制的形容词子句最好不要改分词Ving构句(有7個考題),但是Ved分词例外(有两个考题)。

1. 时态:一般英语基本时态在初中、高中课本中都已出现。复习备考时重点应放在几个容易出错的时态上,如:一般现在时(最容易出错是第三人称单数作主语时,动词需加-s)、现在完成时、现在进行时、过去完成时和现在完成进行时。判断时态时一定要根据语句中相关的时间词语和上下文中的一些线索。

2. 非谓语动词:是仅次于时态的一个必考的语法项目。非谓语动词包括“-ing形式,动词不定式和分词(包括现在分词和过去分词)”三种形式。“主动-ing;被动过去分词;将要做的事动词不定式”,是我经常要求学生记住的话。此句前面的主动、被动和将要做的事是指动词与之相应名词的关系,后面讲的是应该填的形式。但这只能说明大多数情况下,不能概括全部。

3. 被动语态:在谓语动词和非谓语动词考题中有很多题都涉及到被动语态。但许多学生在做题时比较容易忽略被动语态,因为汉语里的被动语态在汉语句子中常可不提。请大家做题时需要特别注意这样两种情况:一是物做主语,二是及物动词或短语后缺宾语。这时要多考虑被动语态。因为物一般不会自己发出动作,及物动词后缺宾语的情况就很可能是宾语被提到前面做主语了,这两种情况下用被动语态的可能性很大。当然,这也不是绝对的。

4. 从句:分为定语从句、状语从句和名词性从句(包括主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句)。做从句题时一定要注意选对正确的连词和正确的时态。一般情况下从句都要有连词,部分情况下连词可省略。选时态时一定要参照主句的时态。

5. 情态动词:根据近三年的考点来看,复习重点可放在“情态动词 + have done“ 结构和虚拟语气上。“情态动词 + have done“结构表对过去事情的推测。如: must have done(表肯定推测) ;could/may/might have done (表“可能”);

can’t/couldn’t have done(表“不可能”或“肯定不”)。虚拟语气有should/ought to have done (本应该做却没做); shouldn’t/ought not to have (本不应该做却做了);

could/might have done (本可以做却没做); would have done (本要去做却没做);needn’t have done (本没必要做却做了)和suggest(ion),order,command,require等动词或名词后跟宾语从句或同位语从句,表语从句,主语从句等,后接”主语+(should)+动词“的结构。

6. It的用法:it在英语中是一个非常活跃的词汇,它可以涉及到好几个英语语法项目。其中有:⑴.强调句型: it is /was…that/who…。⑵. It做形式主语:It is no use/good/worthwhile doing ,It takes sb…to do… ,It occurred to me that等。⑶. it做形式宾语: make it clear that…,make it possible for sb to do等。⑷. 固定搭配: It is (high) time that…did/should do…,It is/was the first time

that…have/had done…,It won’t be long before….等。

7. 倒装句: 现将倒装句的几种情况归纳如下:⑴.表否定意义的词或短语置句首时。如:never, seldom, little, not,“介词+no+名词“短语等。⑵. So/such…that…

句型中so/such置句首时,主句主谓要倒装。⑶. only+状语置句首时。⑷.

So/nor/neither+助动词+主语 ,表“······也(不)”。⑸. As引导让步状语从句的倒装。⑹. If引导的条件状语从句if省略时的倒装。

8.几种常考结构:⑴. 表示倍数的用法:倍数(twice/three times)+ as + 形容词原级/+ 形容词比较级 + than/+ the + 名词 + of + 比较对象。⑵. 形容词比较级的两个固定结构:The + 比较级 + 句子,the + 比较级 + 句子,the + 比较级 + of the two。⑶. “of +(greet)+名词=形容词”的结构。⑷. with+宾语+宾补(doing/to do /done/介词/副词/形容词/名词等)的结构。⑸. can’t … too …。再?也不过分。⑹. 动词 + 人 + 介词(in /on /by) + the + 部位。

二.要注意的几个问题:

1、要确定语法考点。此题型的主要目的是考查考生对语法的掌握和运用程度。所以大家做题时,首先要考虑该题是考什么语法项目。一旦语法出错,此题就无分可言。待确定语法考点后再来思考词汇和语境。建议大家在复习备考时,多做一些考语法结构和词汇结合的题,而不应该做一些纯考词汇的题,以便加强高考题型的针对性训练。

2、要分析语法分布。每套题的设计肯定会尽量涉及到高中阶段要求掌握的各项语法知识。考生做题时,要牢记高中阶段要求掌握的各项语法知识,学会分析该套试题语法考点的分布。这样可帮助选对语法考点,提高正确率。

3、要确保动词正确。在语法中,动词是非常重要的组成部分,所以要特别注意动词的运用。填动词时首先要判断是谓语动词还是非谓语动词。如果是谓语动词就要认真考虑应该用什么时态,也包括语态;如果是非谓语动词,就要认真考虑用什么样的形式,动词不定式,-ing形式,还是过去分词,有时也要考虑非谓语动词的时态和语态。

4、要注重翻译技巧。英语句子在一定的语境中有它固定的结构,千万不要用汉语乱来套,要根据英语的特点和注意翻译技巧,如:在做疑问句,宾语从句和感叹句时要注意疑问语序和陈述语序问题;再需注意一些特殊的英语结构的翻译。这些结构前面讲了常用的一部分。在学习英语过程中还有许多,这些结构都需特别记牢。

5、要看清试题要求。题干上明确要求“用句末括号内的英语单词完成句子”。如果不用所给的词,尽管你的句子结构和意思都是正确的,但你的答案是不能得分的。因为你没有按要求做题。

一、命题特点

“完成句子”是新颖的高考题型,考察的是对语法结构的掌握,在湖北省高考英语卷中已有五年历史。纵观五年的考题,不难发现以下特点:

1、语法覆盖面广、粗略统计已涉及了20 多种语法现象及固定句型,如there be句型、it occurred to sb. that等;

2、重点语法反复呈现,如:10年71题和2011年71题考点为倒装、10年 72题与11年74题考点为分词短语作状语、非谓语动词历年都有2-3题、定语从句、倒装、虚拟、形容词比较级、情态动词加现在完成时等连续几年都有涉及到;

3、一道题目中不只考察一种语法,多种语法现象交织在一起;

4、语境控制、答案精确客观、字数限制在五个单词以内;

5、紧密联系教材,许多题目在教材上能找到对应的雏形,如winning the scholarship、might have had a hand in等;

6、对句子成分的分析是做好题目的关键,如2011第80题, _____ (比较这两把牙刷) and you’ll find the purple one is softer. (compare),特别是分隔现象的使用;

7、常见词汇的写法如:(scholarship,toothbrush)及不规则动词的写法必须掌握。

二、症结诊断

笔者通过对平时学生训练的观察和完成句子试题分析,发现考生失分的主要原因在于以下几个方面:

1、句子结构知识掌握不牢,容易受英汉表达思维差异的影响。如, 写作中通常出现类似这样的句子:There were a lot of students took part in the tree planting activity. We are very glad that our teacher is going to teach us swim.

2、 惯用句型识别不清,如:It cost me. 很多考生审题不能将汉语提示和英语部分结合考虑, 也没有考虑到cost的主语不能是人,其过去时和过去分词均为cost, 所以才出现I cost, I costed等错误。惯用句型是完成句子的热点之一,考生学习中要注意分析和掌握常用句型。3、复合宾语结构混淆,特别是使役动词have、make, let, leave等; 此外还有感官动词see, watch, notice?+ sb / sth + do /doing的用法和区别都是高考完成句子的重中之重。

4、语态表达差异牵制,题目中有意识的不提“被”字, 考生要注意判断。有时汉语不提“被”字,不等于英语不使用被动;相反汉语习惯用被动时,英语却习惯不用被动。

5、语序表达习惯冲突,语序习惯不同是历来高考的焦点之一。考生尤其要注意英语中与汉语思维相冲突的表达方式。

6、语气表达形式影响,英语中(虚拟)语气形式与汉语不一样,是通过动词的不同形式表示的。如情态动词表示过去的推测,虚拟条件句的动词形式,表示建议、命令、要求等的动词后面的动词形式都是有差别的。

7、比较对象偷换缺失,有时汉语省略的东西,英语却不能;而英语省略的东西,汉语往往不省略,考生需要提防此类错误。

通过对历年高考完成句子试题分析以及对考生失分的主要原因的诊断,笔者将完成句子中所涉及的重点、难点、热点语法现象归纳如下:

I.动词的时态和语态 (NMET2011湖北卷77题)

1.动词时态语态往往与其它语法融合在一起

2. Already、just、yet、never、lately、recently、in/during/over+ the last/past+时间、since 、up to now、so far、for+一段时间、in recent years等表示现在完成时的时间状语;by+过去时间、by the time+过去时间、before+过去时间、by the end of +过去时间等表示过去完成时的时间状语;by+将来时间表示将来完成时的句子。

3.经常考查现在进行时的被动语态 现在进行时表示一种赞扬或评的感情色彩,现在进行时表示将来时用于一些位移发生改变的词语;经常考查过去进行时以及被动语态;将来进行时表示在将来的某个时刻正要发生的动作,如at this time tomorrow、this time next week。

4.For+一段时间若表示的在过去发生的动作,和现在没有联系时只能用过去时。

5. 时间、条件状语从句中通常用现在时表示将来时;祈使句加and、or再加上将来时的句子。

If the building project to be completed by the end of this month ____________(推迟),the construction company will be fined.(delay)

6.主动形式表示被动意义

系动词look、feel、sound、smell、taste、seem、appear、go、prove、turn(颜色、数字、零冠词的名词)+形容词或者名词;表示主语的某种属性的词:read、write、act、cut、draw、drive、sell、wash、clean、wear/open、cook、lock、shut等。The door won’t lock. This coat dries easily. The plan worked out wonderfully. The engine won’t start. The pen writes smoothly.

A product__________________________(会更畅销)if promoted with a slogan.

答案:that house price will fall down; that was attacked; what we have achieved; she has been shouldering; will have come to light; there has been a huge growth; was conducting an experiment; will be listening to ; studied; is delayed; Problems will arise; will sell better.

II.非谓语动词(NMET2011湖北卷72、73、74题)

1.过去分词做状语是一般位于句首,而且该动词和句子的主语之间存在逻辑上的动宾关系;某些过去分词已经被形容词化了,往往用于系表结构中,既不表示被动也不表示完成只表示一种状态。如:lost 、seated、 absorbed、dressed in、tired of(厌倦)、hidden(躲)等,不管做什么成分都不用ing形式。

2.现在分词作状语时,该动词和句子的主语之间存在逻辑上的主谓关系。Doing表示一般性动作或者正在进行的动作;having done则表示发生在谓语动作之前的动作,通常有表示完成的时间状语,Not 必须放在V-ing之前。
